When President Barack Obama signed the $410 billion spending bill for the 2009 federal fiscal year, which began Oct. 1, 2008, there was $71.1 million included for Northstar. That’s the final installment of the federal government’s $161.9 million commitment to the $320 million project, according to Tim Yantos, executive director of both the Anoka County Regional Rail Authority and the Northstar Corridor Development Authority (NCDA).
