Washington DC -A federal grant will help start the Duluth Transit Authority (DTA) construction on a new multi?modal transit hub in downtown Duluth. Today, Congressman Jim Oberstar announced that the Department of Transportation will contribute $16 million dollars towards the construction of the new $40 million facility to link local bus service with intercity bus service, taxi and car rentals, pedestrian and bike trails and eventually the Northern Lights Express train service from Duluth to Minneapolis.
"The DTA plan to link these modes of transportation together is visionary," said Congressman Oberstar. "When this facility is complete, you will be able to take a bus or train to Duluth and have immediate access to local bus service. People in Duluth will be able to take a bus to the transit center, where they will be able to catch a train to the Twin Cities." You can download the entire press release by clicking here.
