PREFERRED ROUTE MEETS FRA CRITERIA PDF Print E-mail

December 8, 2010

A nationally recognized firm, Transportation Economics and Management Systems, Inc., presented findings December 8 of a functional analysis of the NLX Alliance's preferred route and two alternatives. They concluded the preferred route meets Federal Rail Administration criteria. The alternative routes do not. Please note, in order to compare the merits of each route, costs were increased on the preferred route to mirror the confidence level of data on the alternatives. Capital cost estimates for the preferred route will be available after the environmental and engineering analysis is complete in 2011.

The functional analysis will be reviewed by the Federal Rail Administration. The preferred route will proceed with environmental and engineering work.
